Team Victory was founded by Max and Verity Maelstrom when they were twenty eight and twenty seven, respectively. Formerly both on Team Maelstrom, Verity recruited Max to establish their own team for the latter half of their athletic careers. Rather than focus on AR water and trap-based play, like Maelstrom, Victory became swiftly reputed for precision tactics, puzzle-solving, and strategy-based play, making them able to compete with larger and more experienced teams. Victory’s ability to recruit top-notch skill has allowed the team to develop into one of the top ranking teams in the association.
Team Victory generally field four players who fit the ‘team leader,’ ‘team defender,’ ‘team foundation,’ and ‘team wildcard’ roles. These are descriptive of the players general skillsets as opposed to any kind of official or codified team role. The leader is the primary strategist, the defender prioritizes team welfare, the foundation offers a broad and adaptable skillset, and the wildcard is the necessary boundary-pusher and risk-taker. The wildcard is usually a fan-favorite.
Only established eight years prior, Team Victory is still considered a relatively new team on the LACA roster. Originally consisting of a single quad, two founders and two rookies, the team has since expanded. Despite its expansion, however, Victory has yet to be able to field a second full quad in the main LA season due to the founders’ preference for recruiting only the exceptional. Their prospective second quad has shown well in special events, even without a set four-player roster and is slated to enter the next LA season if a consistent fourth player can be found.
Aesthetics & Vibe
Team Victory: Purple, Gold, White.
The core of Team Victory’s theme is puzzle-solving, precision tactics, and clever strategy. Their goal, in PR, as to present themselves as “the smart ones” among the other LACA teams. Their aesthetics, to that end, are mazes, optical illusions, etc.

Seasons 1 & 2
Name | Ages | Role in Arena |
---|---|---|
Verity Victory | 27 to 29 | Team Lead |
Max Victory | 28 to 30 | Defender |
Alex Victory (the Player) | 20 to 22 | Foundation |
Nicholas “Nicky” Victory | 19 to 21 | Wildcard |
The initial quad for Team Victory, they quickly rocketed their four-person team to the top of the competitive bracket despite their small size. Verity, Max, Alex, and Nicky work together well and the first two seasons represent a strong initial showing—a proof of concept that Verity was right to establish her own team despite opposition.
Near the end of season two, Nicky and Alex are involved in an in-Arena accident and Alex loses a leg. Nicky is blamed (primarily by the public, who were watching the accident live) for Alex’s injury and subsequent absence. Nicky and Alex have an explosive falling-out.
Seasons 3 & 4
Name | Ages | Role in Arena |
---|---|---|
Verity Victory | 29 to 31 | Team Lead |
Max Victory | 30 to 32 | Defender |
Nicholas “Nicky” Victory | 21 to 23 | Wildcard |
Maria Victory | 20 to 22 | Foundation |
For seasons three and four, Maria replaces Alex for the duration of the cybernetic leg fitting and rehabilitation period. While this is happening, Maria and Alex bond. The arena quad is strong and Team Victory continues to win, though they do not quite reach the heights on the leaderboards that they did during season one and two.
Alex takes one and a half years to reach arena-ready combat through rehabilitation. There is a period of six months at the end of season four where Alex acts as an occasional substitute. When Alex returns to the arena full-time at the end of season four and the beginning of season five, Verity takes the opportunity to retire from the sport and move into a managerial role with the team.
Seasons 5
Name | Ages | Role in Arena |
---|---|---|
Max Victory | 32 | Team Lead |
Alex Victory (the Player) | 24 | Defender |
Nicholas “Nicky” Victory | 23 | Wildcard |
Maria Victory | 22 | Foundation |
The first half of season five is less than stellar. Without Verity, the team is missing their long-time lead, and while Alex, Nicky, and Maria work decently with Max, Max has paired with Verity for the entirety of their careers. Then, too, while Alex and Nicky have reconciled enough to function, the team struggles to find their stride in the arena.
Max sticks it out for half a season before following Verity into retirement and announces the reshuffling of team roles for the remaining remembers, plus the acquisition of a new strategist, Riley.
Seasons 5.5, 6, 7 & 8
Name | Ages | Role in Arena |
---|---|---|
Alex Victory (the Player) | 24 to 27 | Foundation |
Nicholas “Nicky” Victory | 23 to 26 | Wildcard |
Maria Victory | 22 to 25 | Defender |
Riley Victory | 18 to 21 | Team Lead |
From mid-season five, Team Victory has been considered to be in their “golden era.” Riley is well-suited as a strategic lead and with her inclusion, the other three’s working relationship smooths out. Alex and Nicky continue to strike sparks from one another, but their volatile dynamic plays well with audiences and is tempered by Maria’s phlegmatic personality. The team breaks only briefly and periodically when a player is out for an injury, when they’re testing out a possible new team acquisition, or when there is a PR push that features a guest player.
During this time, Kaeo and Kanda are acquired and trained and often play substitute. Team Victory also begins to recruit for a secondary quad and tests, earmarks, and acquires Dom, Ben, and Z.
Secondary Team
Name | Age | Role in Arena |
---|---|---|
Dominic “Dom” Victory | 19 | Team Lead |
Ben Victory | 19 | Foundation |
Sam “Z” Victory | 18 | Wildcard |
Unrecruited Fourth Player | -- | Defender |
The largest weakness of Team Victory is the limited number of quads that they can field. To rectify that, Team Victory has been recruiting formally for a year and informally for two. Their secondary quad is nearly complete, with only one more slot to fill for a college-aged team.
Z, the youngest on the team, was picked up by Max from outside of the arena training pipeline and not put into formal training until Dom was poached directly out of Team Ferocity’s training program and Ben was the result of Team Victory’s first experimental open tryout.
Substitutes
Name | Age | Role in Arena |
---|---|---|
Kaeo Victory | 20 to 21 | Defender |
Kanda Victory | 20 to 21 | Wildcard |
Kaeo and Kanda Victory, twins, were informally recruited at the age of nineteen without the intention of putting them on a team. Regardless, the pair of them have often substituted in the arena for the past year, playing in seasons seven and eight. Kaeo is more adept at navigating the arena itself, but Kanda knows how to play to the crowd with her arena persona.
Subtitutions within Team Victory usually follow the pattern of Dom substituting for Riley, Z substituting for Nicky, and Ben substituting for Alex. Kaeo usually substitutes for Maria. Kanda pinch-hits mostly for PR and spectacle, since her arena persona as the ‘Rebel’ inspires a great deal of chaos. This is especially true when she and Nicky, with his ‘Bad Boy’ routine, end up in the arena together.
